In Praise of the Greasy Spoon

I needed to go to Bolton this morning and had a spare hour so I went to a fully unreconstructed greasy spoon....The Butty Box, Chorley Old Road

2 x bacon, 2 x sausage, 2 x egg, 2 x toast, beans (no ramekin), mushrooms, tomatoes, cup of tea

All for.....are you ready for this........

Oh yes, my little pleasure is a buttie van in a layby in Hinckley when I go over on business. He does a cracking bacon bap for a couple of quid.

I love a good greasy spoon however I'm addicted to finding inconsistencies in the menus for the cost of extra breakfast items in all the combinations they tend to offer.

I suspect I'd get the cup of tea for £3.50 in London

That was the "Full English" I had. There were bigger options, including something called a "Breakfast Tray" which included all the above, plus black pudding, plus fried bread which was £4.50. I couldn't have managed that
