Ok, so i currently commute 15 miles a day (7.5 each way) i now wish to increase this to 30 or 40 in total and have worked out a couple routes one for 30 one for 40
i have the bike and feel it will cope fine and my school has a secure bike shed and plenty of spare lockers in the bike shed so that is all okay but the bits i am stuck on is as follows:
clothing and getting changed
food
school equipment
so i find i can get by with 1 pair of trousers and 1 shirt for a week and could cycle in with these somehow on the monday and take the dirty stuff home on friday and leave the clean clothes in school, as for this sort of mileage i don't really want to be riding in in my school clothes as i currently do. would it be wise and/or practical to leave my school clothes in school ride in in lycra and then get changed in the toilets at the beginning and end of each day?
so then food is massively important for me as over 30-40 miles a day i will be burning about 1500-2000 calories i would estimate and as it stands we can't afford for me and both bro's to eat in the canteen every day and of course we couldn't do this just for me. could i get a saddle bag big enough to fit 3 sandwiches a banana an apple or two and a cereal bar in?
and finally school gear; i could leave my rucksack in school and chuck a pen or pencil etc in my jersey pocket when need be and i never get homework so that is no problem but it is mainly my school netbook that i am currently typing this on. at home i charge it overnight every night (i know, i know!) so it is fully charged for next day, i will be asking IT technicians tomorrow if i could charge it in their office or alternatively i could simply charge it as i use it in lessons as there is almost always more than enough sockets. anything i have majorly overlooked here or anywhere else?
if you have managed to get this far then well done! i greatly appreciate it!
Cheers Ed
