I don't like paying for insurance but realistically if someone got in to my garage I couldn't afford to replace half of it without some sort of cover. In the end I went with Pedal Cover for a combined home and contents policy. It's not cheap, but I've got 9 bikes covered in total, 6 of which had seperate policies before I combined them all, so I'm paying less now than I was before 
I've also replaced all the garage doors with modern security doors and fitted an alarm and CCTV inside and out, belt and braces
