Its not a particularly complex spoke arrangement, its known as 'flower' - Its a method to spoke a wheel with spokes which are too long.

I can't see any advantage apart from a pattern, if you have have only long spokes get the right size.

Check the non-drive side chainstay - there's the reaction arm of a coaster brake
It's a nice looking bike but I can't justify the £1500 or so it wold cost to go pick it up

Uk regs say 2 brakes must be installed on a bicycle at all times. Whether that be the chain on a fixed wheel, coaster brake, drum brakes, discs or whatever.

As for BMX's, I guess if they don't have 2 brakes then they should come with a warning "not for road use"
