Did the poor bar even make it back home with you? (I find it hard to resist as sometimes they keep on calling your name while you're walking, don't they?)
It did, but surviving the walk back from the shops lulled it into a false sense of security! Unbeknown to the choccy bar, a couple of big mugs of Yorkshire tea had its name on them ...

Can someone tell me if mince pies are supposed to be eaten only during Christmas then?

Nah, you can eat them all winter. And summer if you can get them.

No really, a spiced fruit pie is the sort of thing to be eaten over winter when fresh fruit is not available (originally they actually contained meat too, as a way of preserving that). I'm just starting to wonder when we'll get our first 'tip' box of mince pies this year. :hungry:

It turned out that my friend was more moderate than me but I double-checked with her before wolfing down the rest of her share ...

Yes, I know the technique.. Usually the second time question (of the double checking) is when it's already in your mouth.. "tsomp tsomp.. a' you su-e tsomp tsomp you don' wa' the 'est? tsomp tsomp"

Mmm.. Cuba is a bit urgent now though, isn't? You really need to go before El Caballo is gone!! But make no mistake: I'm not a rum expert by any means.. I just listen to the "experts" and drink whatever they suggest! It looks like there's some sort of rivalry between LA countries regarding their rum, each and every one of them claiming to be the best! (same sort of thing with their salsa.. the music genre not the food!)
Do you smoke btw?
Cuba is very much on the short list as I would like to see it before it all changes, and that can't be very far away. I have a lot of Caribbean work coming up so hopefully I can fill in that tick on my wish list. Yes there certainly is a bit of rivalry there as regards rum, and long memories too. When I was in Panama City I was told I could not get Captain Morgan rum (not that I wanted any) because that wasn't a very popular name there, and hadn't been for some time since the pirate trashed the place back in the 1670s!

Alas I don't smoke so I miss out on the whole Cuban cigars thing...

Not now, he can't. :giggle:
Perhaps just as well. What could be more gloriously irreverent than an irreverent thread with an 'r' casually missing - one we all know belongs there but couldn't care less about its absence?

But if its Galaxy then it will have that awful sickly sweet chemically taste to it, so quite frankly, it doesn't surprise me it had to be finished by more than one person.

Seriously though, going back to a previous subject here, when it comes to tea and coffee I'll drink both, although I prefer tea (coffee I can take or leave), but the one thing about coffee which has always made me laugh is that, people get something really strong and interesting tasting....... And then dump loads of sugar into it to alter its taste!!

I know people do the same for tea so that its nothing but a sickly sweet gloop (the utter utter pansies) but somehow it always seems a LOT worse when it's coffee, I mean, if you need to alter its taste, may I suggest you don't actually LIKE what you are drinking in the first place??

I love mince pies, the Mrs buys a box with the weekly shop on a Thursday & they're gone by Saturday:hungry: This has been going on since they hit the shelves back in October. On Christmas eve I make my own, normally 36 and they don't last much longer than Boxing day.
