Although I missed the beginning of the conversation about travelling.......once you have done a bit it doesn't get it out of your system, you just want to do more. I did loads of travelling in the past, and although I'm pretty rooted these days there's a part of me that will never want to stop travelling. If plan A of job, wife, kids, mortgage etc were ever to come tumbling down around me I would have no problem with a plan B of rucksack on and off I go. Alaska first I think. So, Marshmallow Fluff, in answer to your question, I think once one has travelled the itchy feet never really go away.

It was quite a revelation. I caught up with my brother last year, whom I hadn't seen in a while, in a bar in Dominica and he introduced me to the local rums, specifically the 18year old Eldorado. Wish I could find it (at a sane price) here in England...Now we're talking!!!

I was first introduced to "ron" in Cuba many years ago, but then some (local) friends in Venezuela took my drinking experience to a different level, with various choices of "anejo" rums (Diplomatico, Santa Teresa etc). I'm not a big drinker, at least not quantity-wise, so I like to love what I drink! My best mate, she's from Martinique and she brought me a Neisson Rhum (and small production coffee
) which was as well brilliant!

Mmm.. Cuba is a bit urgent now though, isn't? You really need to go before El Caballo is gone!! But make no mistake: I'm not a rum expert by any means.. I just listen to the "experts" and drink whatever they suggest!
It looks like there's some sort of rivalry between LA countries regarding their rum, each and every one of them claiming to be the best! (same sort of thing with their salsa.. the music genre not the food!) Do you smoke btw?
