Merino wool is my go to for hot temperatures, I've ridden many times in temps ranging from 25 to mid thirties degrees and find it the most efficient and comfortable in those conditions. I have Merino wool T-Shirts, good quality ones with traceable origins, if it's a little chilly I'll pop a gilet on over it. There not too close fitting, so terrible if aerodynamics are your thing, but for all day comfort they can't be beat.

i don't feel the need for pockets in my clothing, I carry my food, tools etc in small bags on the bike.

After avoiding last week's heatwave like the plague, I finally put my July '22 soaked baselayer findings to the test on Saturday because I was running out of opportunities to keep my 5hr+ weekly streak alive when not ill, albeit ~18Kg heavier...

I managed to do a couple of heartrate threshold+ intervals totalling ~18mins on a 1hr50min ride and felt surprisingly ok besides the fact they were my first efforts since my 2.5+ week lurgy recently.

The soaked baselayer did an amazing job of keeping me cool and despite going out with two bidons, I didn't even finish the first one, when I did fear I might not have enough fluid.

I wear a base layer when it’s coolish. But I will wear 2 thin road jerseys quite often, mainly because I carry that much crap when I’m riding I need the extra pockets.
