Is it just me or is £15.99 too much for takeaway pizza?

Okay so you may have seen those guys dressed in Spiderman outfits bogof boards for a well known pizza takeaway. Okay I'm tempted, always love a bargin. Two medium pizzas then please. Yes sir that'll be £15.99. There must be some mistake! - er no sir that's the price of one pizza. Gobsmacks!

Somebody has to pay the business costs.

High prices with time dependant special offers. Easy way to maximise profits. Sell it cheap on quieter days, more in busier.

£8 for a pizza is pretty cheap. £15 less so but clearly enough do at peak times.

Pizza itself - i.e. the ingredients - is pretty cheap, a large part of the costs is advertising, either on TV or, in a smaller way, in door to door delivery leafletting. Locally, Dominoes Pizzas leaflets seem to arrive in my letter box every week.

10 inch instead of 12 inch if I remember correctly which worked out a lot more expensive than my local pizza place even with the bogof offer.

Always buy from small local businesses, unless it's @screenman's cos he'll lecture about his costs ;)

It is what it is, if you dont want to pay that go to Iceland or Herons and get one for a pound or £1.50 or make your own.

The Iceland ones are great if you scrape of their topping and do your own one .

Yes but most people on here wont have fast action yeast in.You can get the mix for less than a pound I think.

The recipe we use doesn't have yeast.

Off the top of my head, it's flour, tinsy bit of baking powder, pinch of salt & pepper, small quantity of water and a little olive oil.

Mix, roll out the dough, 'dry fry' it for a few mins. Use a plate to invert the pizza, back in the pan on a low heat whilst you put the ingredients on the now cooked side. Finish off with a drizzle of olive oil and bung it under the grill to finish!

my local pub charges £18 for a take away pizza, but its the best pizza Ive ever had, plus I get to have a pint while I'm waiting for it!
