Is it "lumpy" where you live?

What is a hill? can you tell I live in Lincolnsire.

The Wolds about 6 miles from me are sometimes described as lumpy, but there is nothing over a few minutes of effort worth talking about, nice cycling though.

Essex isn't as flat as you would think. You can average 1500 ft climbing in 50 miles (my husband and his friends). Although my rides tend to be 20-30 miles with around 400 ft climbing.

Yes it's hilly here. The only flat bits in my town are a housing estate and a supermarket car park! If you travel west, once you reach Preston you have miles and miles of flat roads but travel east and it's worse(or better if you like hills) than here!

Cracking a solo.
Very lumpy in west wales, it's about an avarage of 1000ft of climbing for every 10 miles no matter which direction you ride
That's me too, you're either going up or you're going down, no extraordinarily long climbs, a fair few short sharp shockers if you want them, but whichever direction you go, you will soon start heading up whether you want to or not. I'm third on the CC strava club for elevation this week, of the two that have done more one has done nearly double my mileage and I believe the other is hill training.

Every slope is a hill and every hill is a mountain to me

In a word, no. I live In St. Neots, Cambs where you could plot a route that does about 200 - 300 feet of climbing in 50 miles. It does get a little lumpier depending in which direction you go but you'd struggle to get 1,500 feet in the same distance.

I'll be up in Grasington over the grand depart weekend and it's a little different up there ;).

Tony.
Crikey! I do about 450ft in the last mile of my ride home!

It's lumpy where I live, there are several hills with 20% (or higher) grades, and my round-trip commute to work has heaps of climbing in it.

Most frequent bike purchase for me is brake pads. Only gears I use on my cassette are the 4 biggest for going up and the smallest for going down. Other five practically unused.
50ft per mile climbing feels like a flat ride to me.
