Is it "lumpy" where you live?

Deceptively rolling is how I would describe it. We have no 'proper hills' unless you count Gas Hill where the Gas Hill Gasp is run annually. People think that its as flat as a pancake here but it's not. Flat as a pancake is Lincolnshire, not Norfolk.

Errrm, highest point in Norfolk: 103 metres. Highest point in Lincolnshire: 168 metres. Care to reconsider your claim?

Here in Notts, I have a choice of fairly lumpy, or easy relative flatness - guess my preference!

Is anywhere lumpier than Bradford? I live north on the Aire Valley, I can cycle 10 miles flattish to Leeds or 20 to Skipton, any deviation at all, from the valley, involves ball busting work.

Anywhere else (such as Hebden Bridge) in a steep-sided valley!

Here is the profile of the forum ride I did from here on Monday ...

Here for rides.
Nowhere is flat around here, it's a ridge and furrow sortof landscape, ridge then valley ridge then valley but nothing huge, bounded north and south by ranges of hills. But the hills are only soft shandy-drinking southern ones and whilst OS single-chevron climbs abound I think I'm right in saying there is only one OS double-chevron in West Sussex.

I could ride 50/60 flat as a pancake miles heading in certain directions, or I could tackle a 17% hill riding round the corner

I average 80-100ft per mile and can't really do any less other than one 20 mile loop that is only around 1100ft of climbing.

Doing a 103 mile sportive in Lincolnshire tomorrow that has around 30ft per mile, going to be really interesting to see what kind of pace we can keep on a much flatter ride.
