Is this right?

I was in Cycle Surgery yesterday looking for some decent lights and mentioned that I had accidentally strayed onto a busy a-road when I ot lost.

They guy went

"You're lucky, if the police saw that they'd arrest you?"

I wasn't aware that driving on a normal a-road (ie not an a-motorway) was illegal on a bike. Is this guy just spouting crap or am I mis-informed?

Should be fine, unless you were on a road that specifically mentions no cycling.

Any chance as you were looking for lights, they assumed you did it in the dark with no lights on your bike?

........and certain restricted A roads. The restricted A roads will have signs informing you of the fact at the junction with the A road. No sign, no foul!

I went from Lancashire to Norfolk and back and the A17 is like a motorway!!!!. But it was perfectly legal to go along it. It is only Motorways but certain bridges around Kings Lynn did have signs saying 'cyclists dismount'. Which i did

Hmmm, the only 'Cyclists Dismount' sign I am aware of is a blue, rectangular informational sign (and I'm sure they are sometimes true ). I know of 'No Cycling' signs which are giving an instruction, but not the 'Dismount' ones. Are these different ?

To be perfectly honest i missed them going into Norfolk but coming back i saw them and thought 'Oooops!' The bridge wasn't any narrower in my opinion! So not sure what the sign was there for???. This was what it was like....

I remember seeing that part of the A55 near Conwy is restricted, not only to cyclists but 50cc and some other as well. The rest of the dual carriageway looks to be open to all, although I wouldn't fancy riding down it if I had a choice!

Funny you should mention cake coz as i got off and pushed i stopped in middle and had a blueberry muffin!!!!
