I really shouldn't make jokes in the Bike shop.

I call in on my way home most Fridays for a chat and a coffee and for the past few weeks there has been this beautiful Trek Madone sitting at the front of the shop marked at 30% off (last years model).
Today the Bikeshop owner caught me staring at it (again). I jokingly said that. I can't afford it now but, if it was still there in 3 months, I'd take it and he just said, OK no problem, I'll keep it for you

So In 10 weeks I'll be collecting it, just in time for this years holidays. I don't need it, it's specification is way beyond my talent, but it's pretty much my dream bike and I'm stupidly excited! It's going to be the longest 10 weeks ever!

Not a great picture, but here she is.

Phwoar! Look at those curves!

It was the same when I ordered my Specialissima, I had to wait a couple of months. Then one Saturday lunch time the shopkeeper rang out of the blue to tell me it was built and would I be able to collect it before they closed or would I rather wait until Monday? My son and I jumped in the car and shot over there like rats up a drainpipe.

Edit: I'd taken out an interest-free credit card to pay for it and I remember activating it by phone as we drove over, hoping desperately everything would work OK.

Have you told your current bike ?

They are used to it! There are a few others!

When I got my new one I could not look the old one in the eyes. I had rode that bike lots of miles for lots of years in lots of weather. It was horrible the way it looked at me.

I've been lusting after the madone for a while now. Properly jealous. You'll get it just in time for summer proper too.

That looks properly good. I don't understand what's going on with the front brake, but when it looks that cool who cares?

N+1 is always good. I still feel a little bit dirty if I get off one bike and immediately ride another. Just a bit...slutty. In a good way
