.......it's been a few days since I last rode my bike, so today I forced myself into going for a ride. It was hard, but I went anyway. Covered about a mile and a half and I managed to fall off. Don't even ask.
I got gong again and covered about another 2 miles and I really wasn't feeling it, so I sacked it off. Total distance about 5 miles.
What bothers me is I didn't want to go for the ride in first place. So my question is have any of you guys suffered a dip in wanting to go for a ride?
I'm hoping it's just a passing phase, but felt like this all over the weekend.

It happens to me all the time mate, don't worry about it. Take some time off and one day you'll wake up desparate to go for a ride. I think everything's like that, for me anyway. There's certainly no point in pressurising yourself into having to do something. It's supposed to be fun.

I stopped riding at the beginning of last October for medical reasons. However, used the 'medical' as an excuse because I really didn't want to ride. I went to Portsmouth at the end of October with my wife who was running Great South. Weather was lovely and watched a few people cycling around on gentle rides. I actually wanted to pull people off their bike and steal it because I was missing my cycling so much! Nothing wrong with a break - the urge will come back when your body misses the exercise ( and your mind misses the calming influence)

Buy some more bikes ;)...I've got a few so I feel super guilty if I don't ride!

I had 3 months off following shoulder surgery and then the weather was rubbish so I'm trying to catch up. The slow bitty 80 miles I did on Sunday with @jefmcg felt much harder than the 100 of Ride London a year ago

As you get fitter you will end upo with tougher and easier routes you do and on the days you can't really be arsed you may find yourself doing an easier route rather than no cycling. I am luck I always have the canal if a fancy an easy pootle.

Most cyclists at some point loose the mojo, its often a sign that they are over doing it, just take some time of the bike and it'll come back

Everyone ebbs and flows in their desire to go out- sometimes it's a week or two sometimes longer- I have a mate who had a big year of rides last year and getting him out this year has been a chore as he's just not felt the inclination, don't fret it, watch some cycling on the tele or buy some new cycling gear- both these things always usher me out the door!

I normally take a bit of a break in August / September, to allow for summer holidays and get over the RideLondon build up. Start off nice and easy at first and the interest comes back. I'm the same with rugby - come the end of the season in May I cannot even be bothered to think about it for a couple of months until I've cleared my head and am ready for the new season.

Like others say, it happens to us all. I am usually ok in spring and summer but reluctant when the weather turns wet and cold. My trick, in those horrible months, is to clean the bikes thoroughly so they look like new, then I want to ride my new toys.

It happens in cycling and all manner of hobbies. Worry not, just ride if you want to and don't sweat it.
Maybe that's why I don't seem to lose interest: cycling isn't a hobby for me - it's just part of life, the way I travel short-ish distances. If you're not riding at the minute, you're probably missing out on the last chances this year to cycle through clouds of butterflies, roll onto a country lane between still-golden stubble fields dotted with freshly-harvested hay bales or enjoy the cooling blast as you ride from hot sun onto a fern-lined road under a tree canopy. These sort of experiences make my heart sing (at least I think that what it is... the medics don't seem too alarmed by the blood test results yet ;) ).

The weather's looking settled for the next few weeks -need to make the most of it. :bicycle:

If i'm struggling with my mojo I dig out the 'your ride today thread' for a read to get a bit of Inspiration. I really miss my commuting days on the bike at times as it leaves you little choice.
