Didn't know that but it makes sense. Cold for the back and heat for the calves.
Not necessarily, depends what’s up with your back. What’s the diagnosis?

Having just gotten over a serious dose of manflu* I can sympathise.
I tried to get out a couple of times, purely just to get some miles under the tyres, but it coincided with that cold snap and I had to bin the rides off far shorter than I'd have liked. Even when I started feeling OK it was hard work for the first couple of rides, but it was just a case of taking it steady, not going mad and sticking with it (and riding a route which gives bale out / extension options, depending how you feel).
Then last weekend I got out, did a metric half and it felt great - one of those really good rides that reminded me why I enjoy cycling :okay:

* - so serious the doctor sent me for an immediate chest x-ray, as in "I need you to go straight to the hospital for this now, straight from here. I've emailed them and they're expecting you"

Just too many years of hard graft, it takes regular visits to the chiropractor to keep it moving but now apparently the calves are pulling the pelvis down and twisting it which in turn is pulling at the many weaknesses in my back.

Have you had an mri to check for specific issues?

I have a cold and it's gone on my chest.
I haven't been on a bike for 8 days.
Tried my turbo this morning but had to stop because I couldn't breathe.
Just needed somewhere to moan.

I'm lazy and prefer just to get physio or sports massage so I know it's being done properly and thoroughly but there's a cost involved

It can be although I have a friend who has nothing but praise for her chiropractor...and believe me if she doesn't think a medic is up to scratch, she will criticise with both barrels and seek a further opinion (she has serious chronic msk & neuro issues so has seen a lot of medics, physios etc over the years but goes back to this guy as does her very sporty son)!!!

I expect there are good and bad out there as there are physios, sports therapists/masseurs, doctors, surgeons etc

Chiropractice, isn't that like homeopathy, tarot reading and astrology?
Not if you have any muscular pain and you can't earn any money as your welded to the couch and all the nhs is offering is painkillers and anti inflammatorys.
