Hi There
Can I pull on your wisdom, I broke a chain on my mountain bike, (Giant Terrago) with deore 9 speed groupset, I bought a new chain specific to a 9 speed shimano, fitted it as I have done many times before (double checked against the old chain and also large cog to large cog minus 2 links) but now the smaller cogs when riding jump, now I thought this was due to wear on the cogs but it's every cog bar 3 on the 9 speed? Can you help?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Jeff

You have answered your own question. The cassette is worn. Replace and relax!

In future, use a chain stretch tool (cost about £5) and replace the chain when 0.75% worn. Then you should get away with just replacing the chain.

Hopefully.

Maybe.

Well, in theory.

Consider whether the chain is too long by a link? I did the same and used the same length chain as the old one only to find after trial and error that a continuous intermittent problem I had with a jumping chain was chain length, not worn cogs or indexing.
