As with others, both the GLW and I have been knocked off our bikes destroying our respective bash hats, but we were straight back on our bikes afterwards.I always think there is one problem with this discussion. The people who have not been injured are still here cycling and the ones who have been injured are no longer on cycle sites discussing what happened to their heads. A visit to a Headway charity would probably give us a very different insight.

With my last one, I had to wait about two months before the NHS physio gave me the go ahead, such a frustrating time - !![]()
Cycle helmets are designed and tested for falls, not collisions, so it was pretty much a fluke if they helped, but good for you if so.As with others, both the GLW and I have been knocked off our bikes destroying our respective bash hats,

Shows how flimsy they are

Or how they absorb the impact and take the damage
And yet Headway, however well intentioned, parrot a pack of lies. Ends justify the means I guess
Not necessarily some of us have been injured broken ribs collar bones but no head injuries however a smashed helmet.
Make of that what you wish.
I may have damaged a couple of helmets enough to bin (OTB on the MTB and sliding down a stone trail on my noggin, and getting knocked off and again sliding down the road on the 'lid') - gravel rash on the scalp isn't fun. I could do with some better body protection, broken spine, broken ribs, damaged shoulder and broken pelvis and hip socket. Still cycling !Is that it, lightweight.I may have damaged a couple of helmets enough to bin (OTB on the MTB and sliding down a stone trail on my noggin, and getting knocked off and again sliding down the road on the 'lid') - gravel rash on the scalp isn't fun. Something destroyed did not take the damage. It was massively overwhelmed.
