Leaking ultegra brakes

Noticed a lot of play in rear brake yesterday - thought it would be the pads - but they checked out ok.
Took the brake lever cover off then noticed lots of fluid around.

What's likely to have broken here ?

Any ideas to fix - need the bike for sportive next weekend !!!!

Clean the area as best you can then operate the lever several times and watch for where fresh fluid is coming from.

Is it new brake lever time ?

If you have a bleed kit then top it up and try again. It may just be a simple seal that needs replaced or a compression joint needing attention.

You don't need a bleed kit just use a tube and syringe.
I have noticed that the top plug does fail so it could be the o- ring on that.

Cross threaded top bolt.

New shifter almost £200 !!!

Wouldn't mind but it's not even 12 speed. !!!
Who serviced it last time then?
They should pay.,

A few wraps of PTFE (or gas fitters tape) might get a good enough seal and bite to keep you going while to source a new one.
Set the bolt in with some epoxy resin. Fil it with fluid first and fit new pads then you should get at least two sets of pads worth of miles out of it.

Yep or maybe Blue Loctite?. I'd be having a go at saving it for £200!.

Even modify the cap with a centre bleed screw so at least you could pump fluid through from the caliper end.
