Diesel fetishist?

The writing is very much on the wall for diesel, improvements in battery technology, and improvements in electrosynthesis of cleaner fuels will make the shift away from diesel an easy goal for governments needing to address urban pollution problems without making people change their lifestyles much.
*gulp* bought a 3 litre diesel last week
what ?

tbh, I love a big diesel (pre dpf) I think the best car we ever had was a E300 TD, it was just effortless to drive, knock it into cruise at 90 (kmh obviously) in the fast lane and it would just sit there all day purring away.
Effortless and a tad scary I have found out.... 535d....goes like the proverbials!

A proper Stuttgart taxi before they got all executive and poncey.

My Dad had a W123 circa '84 until fairly recently - 3.0 petrol. 4 speed auto, proper coil sprung seats - none of this foam rubbish. Drivers seat was just a nice relaxing place to be. He did offer it to me but as it had been garaged for the last 20 years and I couldn't garage it I just couldn't bring myself to take it and then let him see it deteriorating on the drive - he eventually chopped it in for Ssangyong Tivoli

FAST lane?? :cursing: As a fellow ex lorry driver I would have hoped that you would call it an overtaking lane. It's only nobbers in German cars who own the rightmost lane on motorways, and MUST drive in it even when the other lanes are empty! :okay:

Don't worry, it allows us to make progress undisturbed in L1
I know you're only bonefishing, of course, but you will make progress undisturbed in the left lane too, when it's empty :okay:. At some point, you are going to have to move left to leave the motorway anyway, unless you can find one of the few exits from the right hand lane on UK motorways, e.g. Charing Cross, off the M8 westbound in Glasgow.

My "favourite" on the M8 is the one eastbound that goes to Springburn. Not only does it exit from the right, it also goes downhill sharpish with a pretty tight bend at the bottom. I've seen a few bits of panic braking taking place.
