Night Train

Maker of Things
I was busy today so instructed my folks to pick up a pir of cycling shoes for me. They were going to Lidl anyway so I didn't make them go just for that. Now I have black cycling shoes that fit me properly.

Couldn't leave the £3.90 wireless computer alone though. Bargain!
I only saw ones at about £14

Jesus!! I was planing to go last night after i got back from a meeting in Oxford, but my Brake calipers seized shut and I spent 4 hours in North Oxford BMW waiting for them to fix the bloody thing... £650 (but they did clean it said the lady) later I was home at 8pm!! fingers crossed there is still some bits around at lunch time today!

I bought loads of stuff and planned on taking back anything that didnt fit or I though was a bit naff.

I tried everything on last night and actually decided to keep the lot.

Loads left in my nearest store last night, but for the first time ever I didn't buy anything. I felt the shoes and shorts were a bit low in quality (Aldi was better last Autumn) and whilst the kids helmets and the panniers looked good I didn't need either. I also have a tendency to want better quality stuff now and am prepared to pay a little extra. There's nothing wrong with it in itself and I still have Aldi & Lidl gear from years ago but I think the clothing/shoes is lower quality than it used to be.

Made it to another Lidl tonight and they had a decent selection of most things (the one in Whitburn if that helps anyone)

Got a pair of gloves and a pannier (and a loaf of bread), Pannier ideal for what I am after and will stand up to a heavy shower of rain. Hope the plastic clips are ok but time will tell on them (and I always have cable ties with me for an emergency repair ;))

I got a jersey and two shorts and a pump.

Everyhting looks great, except for the pump that has fallen off the bike already!!! No idea where it's gone?

I got a pannier bag (last one in the shop) for Mrs Ned. Looks remarkably similar to my Ortlieb bag, although as others have pointed out, it remains to be seen how the hooks that attach it to the bike stand up in use.
This meant that I then had to go out and buy her a rack to attach it to... but with that, the new handlebars I fitted this morning and the lighter evenings, she's got no excuse not to cycle to work now!

PS: I didn't buy one, but I noticed that they'd got hi-viz vests for less than two quid.

With most of us having bought Lidl gear, will the next CycleChat ride be a group of identically-dressed bargain hunters?

For the lady who asked about the capri pants sizing, I bought an M and an L and both fitted. I'm a tall size 16 so I think the lady who's a 12/14 would definitely want the M, possibly even the S.

I popped in on my way home on Thursday and there was very little left except for a few pairs of shoes, a few tops and lots of saddlebag/toolkits.

No new Lidl gloves for me this year

I went to the Feltham branch today (Sunday) and there was plenty of stuff left, except for just a very few men's gloves (only L & XL). I picked up some shoes, shorts, tops, 2-way pump & a waterproof - all ready for the summer. Picked up a couple of fire extinguishers too... my first visit to Lidl, and I think I caught Lidl-mania while I was in there.
