John Freebody I expect. He's been a Scout since roughly forever.
Is he the edifice equivalent of table and chairs man?
Dunno, but I paid well over the odds for my grub and was delighted they were there and I hope some scout benefits in some way.
But with teeth
The person I thought I recognised couldn't accurately be described as "he".
It was a delight being back at the Edifice as opposed to the soulless Costa at the airport. (Shame I didn't have enough time for a second cuppa though, but that's nothing to do with the Scouts.)
(I recognised her too)
I would dare to say that people make the mood, not the place itself.
But a visit to the soulless Costa at the airport does allow a visit to the loos in the south terminal which are, as @ianrauk will tell you, just amazing.
Hard to beat those lavs :-)
Sadly the cheap flights now leave from the north terminal. I might have to make a special trip to south terminal next time I'm there.
I've related previously the tale behind the (originally) amazing loos.
Apparently, snazzy loos are a quick and comparatively cheap way of improving the perceived quality of a building. Gatwick however did this set on the cheap, which is why they now smell pretty unpleasant and on each of my last few visits there about half the cubicles have been out of action.
The worst "public" toilets I've ever used in the Western World are those in the South Terminal Passport hall at Gatwick. Ain't ever going back to those, nosiree.
