The Norwegians love their tunnels. I was in Tromsø once and there was even a junction complete with traffic roundabout in a tunnel.

They could have competition from South Wales. This one needs a mere 10 million quid to convert it to a cycle tunnel (like that's going to happen) Bizarrely the length is given in yards  and I can't be arsed to covert it.

There were junctions with traffic lights in the Queensway Mersey Tunnel. There is still a junction today, but it's one-way (Liverpool Pier Head exit) and therefore needs no traffic lights.

Birkenhead Tunnel

The underground junction on the Birkenhead side is closed and the side tunnel used for storage.

You can cycle through the tunnel at night. The air quality is not great.

3.148 kilometres.
looks like there is a lot of water to pump out of there.

The tunnels have replaced lots of ferries. Was always good to roll up to a ferry ,food at roll on/off or on the ferry. Last time we needed the tunnel book forall the info ,lights, ventilation grade and which ones were open to cyclists. Felt a bit strange when you had to wait for a bus wondering if the loaded up tandem would fit in.

Looks like a tunnel to me. If it was like Zwift they would have made it out of glass so you can see the whales swimming by.

I'd definitely use it if the other options are longer or busier.

In DfT hands, but at least it hasn't been self sabotaged by its custodians like the Queensbury tunnel nr Halifax

How have they self sabotaged that, they are objecting to the abandonment aren't they?

I'm not close to to the campaign so you may know something I don't.

I was wondering about that one. Also about proposals for the tunnel at Woodhead?
