Good stuff! I managed this http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/117961014

Interested to see somewhere called 'Alum Rock' on your map; it sounds like a Wylie Coyote album title.

Looks like a decent 30 minutes. I often get out at lunchtime for a quick spin (mainly to avoid my lab colleagues) and thoroughly enjoy it...usually. I work near a 12% beast of a hill that often requires my attention ^_^

So why on earth do people have a second, third or (in the case of a lad in his twenties where I work) FOUR children? Actually the lad with four kids dragged himself into my office last week and earnestly recommended I not follow his lead.

My niece is going out with a lad of the same age of 21, that has three kids, two from one mother, and one from another... He is a really nice lad.

I can not step in as Dad left their family over 10 years ago, I was married into the family, so I have said a few things to her mother, but I can't stomp on in there. I have had to let it lie . I am really worried though, as the lad can't control his bits..

Why....
With the amount of running round like headless chickens, jumping to conclusions, jumping down everybodies throat & through the various hoops at work.....
...do we need to execise whilst at lunchtime?

Getting away from the workplace for half an hour (possibly longer) to eat and maybe go for a stroll is very beneficial.

Indeed, I would be an amorphous blob by now if it wasn't for burning a few hundred calories at lunchtime. I also work right on the edge of town so it's deliciously easy to hit the rural roads. Not literally, although I nearly did yesterday when a had some wheel slip and my singlespeed chain came off, that was odd.

But is he a good dad? I have friends who decided to have kids young, really young and now they're the same age as me (who has a toddler) and have a LOT more free time that I do!

Actually scrap that, I love the fact I had a feckless twenties

I generally go for a miles or two wander to get some fresh air and clear my head. I cannot seriously understand way anyone would just want to mooch to the canteen and back again, let alone eat at their desk (if they have a choice). This is at least assuming you work in an office.

I feel like I'm getting my mojo back now, and it's entirely thanks to lunchtime riding. Today's ride http://app.strava.com/activities/37610679 had a bit of a scary moment when I was going round a roundabout and an articulated lorry coming off the A14 sounded it's horn and only just managed to stop at his give way line about a metre before smooshing me. He looked very relieved to have stopped, as I imagine did I. We both waved to signify we were okay and went on our way. I reckon he'll take it easier next time!

I ride at lunch time, just a short squirt home for lunch, I do find many road users are in a rush due to only having a short time to complete their errand(s).

My weekdays consist of:
  • 6am - getting up
  • 7.30am - cycling the three miles to work
  • 8am till 5pm - working/ posting on CycleChat
  • 5pm - cycling three miles home
  • 5.30pm till 6.15pm - dinner
  • 6.15pm till 6.30pm - falling asleep in front of 'In the night garden'
  • 6.30pm till 9pm - bathing my offspring and trying to get her to go sleep (it seems to take forever, I wish I had her energy!)
  • 9pm till 10pm - spending quality time with Mrs Culture
  • 10pm till 6am - reading / sleep
SO - the only chance I get for extra exercise is the half an hour I'm unchained from my desk at lunchtime. At best I can manage ten miles in this time, but at worst I manage nothing.
I'm still working my way through the many many biscuit selection packs we got given at Christmas, and this coupled with a cold I've had forever means I've slacked off on my lunchtime exercise, but I MUST re-start!
Saturdays I look after my daughter so my wife and work and Sundays we try and spend as family days.
I'm not moaning at all, just looking for reassurance that I'm not the only one I guess!

10 miles in, 10 miles home. I use my lunch hour to do situps and weights which i've stored in my work's changing room. I do this 2-3 times a week, depending on the laziness factor.

I have all the usual family committments so i'm in the exact same boat - i use work as my place to exercise.

I like the sound of a changing room, I just have a foul and dark smelling toilet with a permanently wet floor.

I'd like to get out at lunchtime, but the 30 minutes I have just isn't enough time to get changed, get out on a beneficial spin & get back, shower and change back into my 'normal' togs  Never mind get something to eat as well
