Just had a text to say work has started. Picked up the Corsa courtesy car. Brand new. I had to use a key in the ignition to start it, how quaint ! 
Oh, receptionist said, it would be £156 just to look to see "if" there was an oil leak. I said no thanks, I'd cleaned it up and it doesn't seem to be leaking, if it was, or indeed continued to leak, I'd book it in (actually it would go to my local garage). I suspect it was an old leak as the top of the gearbox remains clean.

Passed. One rear getting worn (still a pass), but as they are the originals I'll get changed soon. Fronts were put on when I bought it, so I'll change the rears from Michelin to Goodyear to match the front.
The video report shows outside edge of rear tyre just below 4mm, the rest a little more - just advised keeping an eye on it. The mechanic spotted the oil leak but the residue is from when I blasted the top, so I'll go and clean off the rest this weekend, then monitor it - mechanic didn't know where it was from, but higher up (no engine oil loss). Brake pads at 5mm front, 6mm back, so they will be changed when the weather warms up !

How many mm were left ? I suspect my Vauxhall dealer was taking the wee wee giving an advisory at 4mm.

Tyres are shagged at 3mm, they wont tread water below that, so an advisory at 4mm wouldnt be unreasonable,
My son said they were just above the wear markers when he checked over the car.
They give advisory anything around 50% worn. Doesn't mean alot.
I said I would sort them out as an early Christmas present.

Most motoring safety organ isations and tyre experts recommend replacing tyres at 3mm, although the lega limit is 1.6. So an advisory at 4mm isn't really extracting the michael.
