Man cycles LEJOG in virtual reality

Just putting this up for discussion as I couldn`t see it elsewhere. I think it`s quite a good idea as to the principle behind it and I`d be surprised if some techy company didn`t take him up on it

I`d need a set of wipers for the VR lenses given how much I sweat on the turbo!

Good for him if he enjoys it. For me, one hour on a turbo was tedious

I like the look of it, looks better than Zwift.

Interesting idea, I kinda like the idea to practice descending things (with no fear) but guess I'd miss the real feeling of acceleration which is what I think my issue is!

What principle and why do you like it?

I just like the fact that it may be possible to cycle anywhere in the world whilst on your turbo. MInd you, when I`m on mine, it`s usually head down sweating buckets missing what happening on the TV lol

He's after some kickstarter funding and I wish him luck, but I think the market for virtual cycling is too mature for what amounts to a one-man-band prototype. I remember DC Rainmaker trialled a prototype VR version of Zwift recently and it wouldn't take the likes of Kinomap or Bkool to extend their current offering.

I speak from some experience as I went some way down the road of developing a TrainerRoad style web app a few years ago, but in the meantime a number of more sophisticated and better funded apps appeared on the market.
