Previous post theory confirmed!
A young, dashing cyclist certainly no needs such tricks to get the girls to smile at him? ;)

I let on to other cyclists most of the time. Sometimes I don't. Coming back towards Ponteland on my training rides, I often see hundreds of other pedallers, and I can't possibly say hello to all of them. Especially if I'm chasing a time or whatever.

I passed a female cyclist this morning pushing her bike up a hill. I said "Good morning" and she replied with the same and a smile.

She was probably in her early 40's but I felt a bit cheeky.

Not cheeky: traditional manners call for a gentleman to greet a lady first, not the other way around, unless the gentleman is an elder relation of the lady, in that case she is supposed to greet him first

Nor forgetting a Gentleman should lift his hat to a lady, or Gnetleman of higher class.

Location may have something to do with it.

I'm in the North East, and while I'm not saying we are all best buddies, people around here are more inclined to swap a few words with a stranger than those down south.

When you get to a certain age, every opportunity you get to talk to a woman, you take! Nothing wrong with a bit of friendly greeting^_^
