I half watched the race, as I often do with F1. Am I right in thinking that there was a grand total of ZERO overtakes in the whole race and the only time one car passed another on the track was when they were lapping the slower car ?

Not quite ,Bortoletto overtook Antonelli at the hairpin only for Antonelli to send up the inside on the next corner resulting in Bortoletto to crash all this happen when the cars were in a big train after the start on lap 1.
With the size of F1 cars know it's almost impossible to overtake without a mistake from the lead car on this track

This was a highlight - Bortoletto’s move was great; opportunistic when everyone was queuing to get around the hairpin but Antonelli’s immediate response was even better.

If you compare the size of the current cars with the sort of cars they were driving "back in the day" it is no wonder they have more problems overtaking on the older tight circuits!

I know they have to keep F1 as the pinnacle of motorsport (or be able to claim it) - but you sometimes can;t have you cake and stay on the same tracks

If you want to see what a bloody big pile up looks like at Monaco , see the start of the F2 race . At the first corner just at the start, the pole starter , my fellow countryman Alex Dunne, was outfoxed and should have conceded the corner . He didn't . Have a look at the ensuing shunt >I watched it live on Sky F1 ( bloody expensive but I love my racing ). Its surely on Youtube

I agree about Sky F1 being expensive

especially if it is the only thing you watch on Sky Sports

advertising that it is wonderful value because you get all the sports means naff all if you are only interested in one of them!

(what other sport might want to thing about that I wonder he said looking at the forum name)

Other than dodgy streams, the alternative is to use a VPN (express VPN has a deal that works out at £4 per month if you pay for 2 years up front) and buy F1 TV Pro from somewhere like South Africa for around $6 (£4.40 ish) a month. Roughly half the cost but a bit of a PITA to set up, particularly if you want to watch on the TV.

Dunne showing shades of Max (although Max did back out at T1 this time, what with a wall approaching and all). He’d lost the corner but kept his foot in anyway.

That 1966 film Grand Prix was the best motor racing film ever made and Garner was quite a talented driver by all accounts. I will not be wasting my time and money going to to see Brad the Pitts offering of the usual hollywood shyte in June

Most motor racing films, just like most motor racing novels, tend to be a bit pants.

Anyone remember the Bob Judd novels?
