Cake or ice cream? The choice is endless ...

I forgot to mention.. A couple of days ago, just as I was leaving daughter's house, we heard a bit of a cacphony overhead.
It was several Red Kites that'd fallen out and were having a scrap!
One, the largest was flying upwards and diving, fast, wings folded, on one of the others which was just managing to avoid getting hurt (or worse!!)

Quite a display of nature for 5 or so minutes!

A warm day here chez Casa Reynard, that started out sunny, but it is now raining.

Slept really well and overslept. Had a quiet morning.

Lovely luncheon of sourdough bread (the last of it, toasted), with potted turkey (very nice, will definitely make it again), cheddar and coleslaw, plus fruit and a :cuppa:

After, did a bit of writing, then potted on all of my tomatoes and recently-acquired herbs and strawberries. I had intended sitting down to watch the cricket and then making some coconut macaroons to use up some random egg whites I've lurking in the fridge, but the parental forgot that her prescription needed to go in on Friday on account of it being a Bank Holiday today. Which meant that muggins had to go specially to Littleport to drop it off so that they can deal with it first thing tomorrow.

After I'd decided yesterday that I wouldn't have a sniff around Waitrose and Tesco, I figured that since I *was* in Littleport, I'd go and pick up an extra loaf of bread and have a sniff around the Co-op. Yikes, it's spendy in there!

Still, picked up a loaf of bread and 2 pints of organic milk on sticker, which means I won't have to go to Tesco till tail end of this week now, as well as half a dozen sausage rolls and two scotch eggs (made by a butcher a friend in the food industry highly recommends, from just over the border in Lincs, but who supply some of the Co-ops in this region), a cucumber and a kilo of tangerines.

Now sat down with a :cuppa:

@postman - does he have a walker / walking aid? If not one may be appropriate although you can expect resistance. A physio referral would help.
We have a wheelchair, plus a walker a four wheel one,we are going to buy a three wheel one we have a mobility shop five mins away.Leeds social care are coming to see him about putting grab handles as apposed to four candles. around the house We have a stairlift bought by himself. We need a ramp and a handrail so he can get out of the conservatory in to the back garden and the sunshine.leeds sent him a letter telling him there will be a delay as they are busy. The wheelchair and walkers were the late mother in laws.

I've made a bit of a rod for my own back. I mentioned upthread that I'd written the outline for the next chapter of my novel. All well and good, but when I was reviewing the notes for the remainder of the chapter I'm currently working on, I realised that I've essentially written the same scenario twice, albeit with two different characters - a husband and wife. Whoops. Either I'm going to have to...

a) rethink the scenario entirely, either in this chapter or the next, or b) have each of the two characters in question be only told half the story each, so that neither gets the full picture.

The wife is much more pragmatic than her husband, whereas he wears his heart on his sleeve. There is an element of concealing the truth from the husband - not nefariously, but to protect him and avoid adding to his grief.

First working day of the week completed. It was mundane as usual.

There have been some truly horrific showers today. I needed my umbrella to walk to work. It's still really warm though and humid though. It needs a proper thunderstorm I think to clear the air.

I had my Monday night dance class tonight. I'm just relaxing now and will probably go to bed soon.
