Lovely supper of soup, followed by a jacket potato with tuna & coleslaw. :hungry:

Getting a bit chilly, think I'd better get the fire going.

Pretty sure dad had a couple of Imps and I remember an Avenger for sure

The Avenger and the Sunbeam made great rally cars. Many people would say they were better than a MKII Escort only Chrysler didn't have the cash to compete at that level.

Nowadays Escorts sell for stupid money and Avengers and Sunbeams are forgotten, and not worth very much in comparison.

I've just remembered there is a gearbox for a Hillman Avenger lying in the corner of the shed at home.

Actually, that's not strictly correct. Good Sunbeam Talbots fetch a fair bit of money, but they're the connoisseur's car compared to the Escort. Their competition record is good enough - World Champions in 1981 with Guy Frequelin / Jean Todt, but they sort of got swallowed up by the Group B cars.

Also, the Fords were the clubman's choice, simply because both basic parts and competition parts were simply more available.

Would that be the same one of Ferrari infamy would it?

That was a very good day for a change. It stayed dry and fairly sunny all afternoon with 45 winding miles from Cambridge to Somersham and back being a successful test ride of the newly configured Spa Elan.
I have also been able to book a slot for next Monday to have smart meters fitted now that the Octopus takeover of Bulb has been completed - for the past few months every attempt to get a booking was met with a 'there are no slots available' message.
