And I thought that we were the leaders in bureaucracy

It has been the subject of considerable ridicule. Part of the problem is that the government in Berlin is trying to introduce a standard national ticket in a federal country with lots of decentralised state and local authorities, all of which already issue local railcards. Each authority has the right to issue the ticket, and each authority has its own system for issuing it.

It took a heck of a lot of negotiation to get this far, and it'll be a while before they get the bugs out of the system.

German local authorities also have a tendency to be slow to adopt new technology and display a strange liking for fax machines.

That sounds like a good idea, should give those that can't afford expensive kit a chance.

How about woollen jerseys and shorts.Apparently fields for TT has been falling.
I go to Stoke once a fortnight on the A50 .I rode my last TT on that road Wouldn’t want to now Traffic is horrendous..
Similar in your neck of the woods .It is some time since I have driven along the A46 towards Lemington /Warwick I rode a few TT on that course.if memory serves me correctly they was a sign advising cyclist to use an alternative route

I now a lot of courses are no longer used due to high traffic counts

A bright sunny morning but the wind is northerly so not warm outside yet. The morning sun streams in my front windows so the front rooms get warm quickly. The heating is still on as by next weekend the temp is forecast to be down near zero at night for a short while. The situation can be reviewed after that.
In mid May Calmac are introducing a new ticketing system which will no doubt cause confusion. I will continue to use the local office where possible as any problems can be sorted on the spot.
The call centre is pretty useless and does not seem to have up to date information on bookings. Their default position seems to be to claim the ferry wanted is full booked when in fact there is still space.
On my last few trips I have gone on spec for sailings I was told were full and got on with no problem.
The current requirement to book for foot passengers is causing much local anger as we are used to just turning up and walking on.
No plans for today so just wait and see what turns up.

They stopped using the A46 near Coventry a long time ago, it got too dangerous, I remember someone got hit by a car on one of the slip roads and badly hurt one night. I've never time trialed , I was fast enough when I was younger, capable of breaking evens, but never interested.
