Itching to get back on my bike's
Location

Another busy working day completed
Time for a bit of relaxation after the washing up etc etc etc

The gardening didn't quite go as planned, as the cutting deck on the mower decided to jam. As everything is belt-driven, cue clouds of blue smoke reeking of burning rubber. Even when the cutting deck isn't engaged. Whoops.

I don't know whether the jamming is down to a foreign object having gotten into somewhere it shouldn't have, or whether the graunchy (sealed) bearings have finally given up. Everything was just too hot to have a gander, so put mower away and went for a bicycular bimble instead. Was lovely to get out on the bike, even if the wind was more than just a bit brisk. It's actually my first proper ride in a while, as my motivation has been close to zero of late.

Tomorrow I'll have to drop the deck off the mower and see what's ailing it.

is your bird feeder within 10 feet of the house? someone once told me, I had to move my bird feeder more than 10 ft from the house, to avoid collisions like that. I didn't believe it, so I'm just passing it on, in case you want to look into it. my birds just attack my security camera ... ;-)

It looked like a youngster. The bird feeders are about 15ft away from the house.
Occasionally get birds hitting the front windows No bird feeders at the front.Strange

yeah, I don't think it's related to bird feeders

a cpl answers from the internet:

In daylight, birds crash into windows because they see reflections of vegetation or see through the glass to potted plants or vegetation on the other side. At night, nocturnal migrants (including most songbirds) crash because they fly into lighted windows.

This is a problem that is most common in spring as male birds are establishing and defending territories. The male sees his reflection in the window and thinks it is a rival trying to usurp his territory. He flies at the window to try and make the rival leave.

What a day out.A five mile walk.Began and finished outside The Station Inn Ribblehead Viaduct, weather was superb. The surfaces were magnificent.A little picnic halfway round.Back to Skipton for a pub evening meal.Cock and Bottle, portions massive, fast service Mis P had sausage and mash with veg and gravy, three of the best bangers i have ever seen.Plus we visited Wensleydale cheese place.Had free samplesbefore i got a chunk of mature cheddar gorgeous. And a treat back via Langstrothdale,Yockenthwaite and Buckden. After seeing some of the route,my plan to ride has changed to Skipton via train then to Yockenthwaite then back to a country pub for refreshments. Not sure when.
