Given the origin of the settlers pouring in here I doubt it. The genuine Muilleachs among which I count myself now could likely look favourably on that idea.

Was thinking about @oldwheels' carrots not keeping. The Tesco ones are just as bad at this time of year.

Ergo I buy canned ones.

OK, it's more spendy, but at least I'm not chucking veggies away because they've developed language skills.

Runner beans

Two small raised beds One for carrots the other for parsnips The small space left has onions cabbage and lettuce

Started harvesting the carrots as we need them.Re sew the carrots as space allows
Potatoes are being grown in a tub

Next year I will put two more raised beds for the the cabbage onions and lettuce

Quite pleased how productive veg in the raised beds have done in small space.🥕🥕🥦🧄

I've done similar.. I've not used any veg out of the freezer for the last month.
My runner beans seem to be a bit disappointing, though, as I can't see any actual beans yet. Maybe they're just late developers.

My runner beans were planted out mid May Plenty of flowers No beans yet perhaps stlll abut early

Runner beans are later I think but you can eat the young ones pod and all. I never really expect any beans as such until the season is nearly over.

Wondering when we become more scared of plants than cars.

A few spots of rain before I left for work and a few on the way home, other than that a windy, warm & humid day here in Suffolk. I think the shorts I'm currently wearing are destined for the bin rather than the washing machine as they seem to be the same colour as my legs, whch is most disconcerting.

Supper consisted of a slice of crab & parsley quiche, potato salad and butternut squash & sweet potato roasted with sage & garlic.
