DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Outside is a bit snowy and I took this photo earlier. The prints on the left are one of son no. 1's cats that he left behind when going to university. But the prints on the right? Fox? Giant cat? Human with tiny feet? They appear from one side of the garden under a tree and go across diagonally down the side of the house ...

Snowed yesterday evening and no more had come down by 4 but there must have a deluge after 6 as it's a lot deeper now and no tyre marks to be seen from the neighbours bakery van. Not going out I thought then I looked at the outdoor thermometer which was showing a 76% humidity in the bike shed  Winter boots on and found the dehumidifier was working properly. Something wrong with the temperature sensor for the outdoor thermometer.

Your bikes will be sweating. I've run one of our old dehumidifiers in the garage most of the winter, as upon entering the garage just as one of the cold snaps ended, everything in there was dripping wet, bikes, tools, boxed and even the computer screens. The buttons are broken on it so it just ticks over keeping humidity to around 60%, which is fine.

Another lovely sunny day so far, at least so far as weather is concerned.
Otherwise a very irritating morning.
Went down to our local Calmac office to book a trip off as I get to speak to a real person who knows the system and makes sensible suggestions if any problems.
Confronted with a notice " Office closed 10th March for annual leave" Aaaargh
Back home and dig out all necessary documents before phoning and having to listen to what seems like 15 minutes of useless garbage aimed at tourists and not those who actually live here.
Eventually get a very pleasant sounding person who sounds new to the system.
Cannot get any sensible bookings next week. The only ones with space are 0515 each way. This would mean me leaving home about 0400 so no thank you and abandon the idea of travel.
If I had a definite hospital appointment I could twist their arm a bit and probably get on.
Lochaline route is a possibility but has other problems tho' no booking so may consider this and decide later.

Good morning from a bitterly cold, windy, wet & white Suffolk. It was actually dry first thing, but the heavy rain soon started and it's now turned into heavy snow which is sort of settling. This is the sort of morning that a warm duvet & a mug of hot coffee were made for.

It also means that I've had plenty of time to book a ticket to see Sleaford Mods in Leeds in November :wahhey:

The wind is howling around my windows - irritating but at least it's blown the clouds away for an instant. No trace of snow here.

The dehumidifier is set to the low 50s by an independent arquarium control and that is working fine. Something weird with outdoor sensors with the two others which are external being 2 degrees different and 23% different in humidity. It's as if the signals have got scrambled between the three of them. A complete reset of the whole system probably needed.
