The american meaning of hoe is different to the British, here its just a garden implement.

as long as it's not a rake to the face

been there, done that, don't wanna do it again

yes, this really happens in real life, not just in cartoons, IF YOU'RE DUMB ENOUGH!

busy Saturday, lots of errands & some yard work. hastily leaned my rake against our fence. I remembered saying to myself don't leave it facing out like that, take the time to turn it around (but I didn't)

then much later, after tons of other stuff, just after dark, I was rushing again to finish up the yard work & hastily reached for a tarp & stepped on the rake, then WHACK!

right in my face (on the bridge of my cheek) just missing my eye

go ahead & laugh, it's OK, I was OK, albeit quite embarrassed. funny tho, that ppl didn't ask about the black eye. Lord only knows what they thought ...

hurt like an SOB! really dazed me! shocked, I immediately felt my face to see if my eye was intact. I saw the brown wooden handle just before it hit me, so my eye was open & looking right at it. wobbled inside & found a bag of frozen corn (which by the way, is not nearly as good as frozen peas) laid down & texted Wifey while holding the bag over 1/2 my face, which she didn't read. she got home & asked "what's wrong with you"? the bruise wasn't that bad (at the time) so she wasn't that shocked. I quickly realized my eye didn't need the frozen bag, cold eyeball! so I kept it lower. I think if I didn't work Sunday & rested with on/off ice packs as recommend for bruises like this, the bruising wouldn't have gotten so bad. but Wifey was like, "it's not bad, go to work" ... lol

Forecast is for the same weather as yesterday but the sun is trying to get through so may not be so bad.
At least that is some sort of good news.
The holiday house opposite me had builders yesterday who expected residents to f-- off to let them park and they have not finished but so far have not appeared today. We seem to have filled all the parking near the back gate which may make them use the proper entrance for the house.
The owner who has appeared has decided that after yesterday's soaking and dampness today it would be good to have a bonfire of sogging garden rubbish. Clouds of smoke and with no wind ash falls on our cars which will not do the paintwork any good.
More ferry woes as Corran ferry parking is to be controlled and a barrier put up when the waiting area is full. With no parking on the A82 we are told just to drive round by Fort William. Same on the Ardgour side.
This is Highland Council and not Calmac for once. The main ferry is broken down and off for repair with a much smaller vessel working the crossing.
This is in anticipation of chaos as Easter approaches.

A mammoth train journey yesterday from Poole to Keswick. Suffered from a numb bum from so much sitting but found a nice pub on arrival.

There is a small village, on the opposite side of the Water, called Portinscale. I have stayed there many times. I can get a boat to Keswick or the south end of the Water, or a bus to the ? wild bird place.
