What is it "carpooled" please explain for a "franglais" in SW France

we dropped her car off at a repair shop & then I drove her to work, on my way to work

then when her car was ready, I picked her up from work, after I left work & brought her to pick up her car

then we each drove our own cars home

the term "carpool" comes from when ppl started to share the drive to work. there was a group of ppl that took turns driving the group to work. the group was the "pool". so if there were 5 ppl & they each took a turn, by the end of the week everyone took a turn driving & no one person had to drive more than 1 day a week. no water is involved so not sure why the word "pool" was used

maybe someone with better language knowledge can explain or we can google wiki?

technically, I guess Wifey & I weren't car"pooling" but it's a common phrase here anyway

love this. our last 2 cats (of 3), in the months before they passed (separately) started doing this around the house. the middle cat (let's call it #2) especially, would sit at the top of our middle steps & out of nowhere, just start doing it. only thing that would shut her up, was walking her to our Daughter's bed & pet her

don't know why the last cat started to do it. maybe he was missing his siblings & felt the end was near. maybe the spirit of #2 was melding w/ cat #3 & vocalizing thru him ... regardless, they are together now

yesterday morning, during coffee, Wifey said she just heard cat #3 meowing. I didn't here it. I believe in an afterlife & that spirits, for lack of a better word, often attempt to communicate with the living. the latest "person" to do this A LOT is my late Father. & when he does, I acknowledge it vocally, so he knows he has reached me, with for example, "hi Dad"

thanks again for sharing, it was most enjoyable

Lovely 6 mile walk with the 🐶 from Brixworth, where I'd taken a car load of rubbish to the tip then parked up nearby, across several rarely used footpaths to Pitsford Reservoir, then back through the village to the car.
Most enjoyable apart from parts along the reservoir path that has a severe flying bug problem!!

Postman has returned from holiday clothes shopping, without killing anybody.Out early before the crowds.Nothing flash just polo shirts from sports direct.Hoodie, underkegs ,socks from Primark. Now the story of the jeans.I was a 38" waist, but i am loosing a bit 34" inside leg.So i find a pair in Primark but they have a little cotton stitching in white sticking out of the thigh. And i notice it.So off to other shops including Marks and Spens.Where i find some top quality jeans? type chinos. But the size is not quite right.38"W 33" il.Just short and i can tell.Others 36"w 35" il.Now these fit better but are too long they bunch behind the knee, and i guess a good meal i might find 36 a bit tight. So i go off and try to find other outlets Its then i find the prices going mad.£45 to £110 i kid you not.So now getting tired and fed up Costa appeals,a brew a sit down, off back to Primark stuff the cotton thread i will ignore it.Well the jeans are still there but folded up nice and neat.Lo and behold i find another pair 38 - 34 and these are a better quality they must have been in the changing room and put out again when the staff tidied up the display,so i bought them £12.A good result in the end.Plus Mrs P approves of all my choices.

I am this very minute in the West Yorkshire Playhouse waiting for a talk to begin. 'Story of a Rocket Scientist'
The talk given by Margret who is now a retired rocket scientist.
Should be interesting.

Edit: It was.^_^ More a personal story than a 'techy' talk but excellent and moving too.

Margaret Bending.
