In this town there is an Ironmonger. Do you remember those?

I have sometimes checked their prices against other suppliers, and they are very competitive. If you wanted to, you could buy two bolts or one hinge. They also deliver large/heavy items without charge.

Admittedly they are closed on Bank Holidays and Sundays, but that, in my case, is irrelevent.

We had an iron monger in the village.I wanted a large cross headed screw driver. He only had packs of three I explained I wanted the large size No problem he just split the pack.

I used him fairly often for single items
He was getting on in years .His son took over the shop but closed down soon after wards.

It is the Men's Shed this afternoon. I will take my new bike to see if my initial feelings are correct . Yesterday I was getting on well despite a strong gusty headwind. The ride feels smoother than my other bikes. It could just be a placebo effect . The ride out to the shed is a long drag up an incline and I find it knackering at ties .

I'm convinced a new-to-me bike is slower than the bike it was supposed to replace grrr

Grey and decidedly chilly here chez Casa Reynard. Feeling vindicated that I haven't turned the storage heater off.

Slept well, and have had a morning puttering around on the research. Been trying to work out what's the best way to create a graphic version of the timeline relating to the car's history that also includes other events that are separate to it but relevant. I'm scratching my head somewhat here. The issue is the formatting, because I no longer have software specifically designed for such, so need to work out how to do it with the software I've got. I'm thinking that Powerpoint might be my best bet.

This afternoon, I shall have to pot on some of my tomato plants. The two Alicante are now big enough to go into their respective large planters, and then the two beefsteak will go into the pots vacated by the Alicante. I already have three tomatoes the size of peas on the Tumbling Toms. I will also pot on the parsley that I bought in Tesco on Saturday. Mine took a right hit over the winter, and what's left is only just starting to recover.

I then have to go to Littleport to drop off the parental's prescription at the quack, and at teatime a friend is popping by to pick up her share of the YS groceries that I managed to acquire over the Bank Holiday.

But right now, it's time for luncheon and I has a hungry.

What a varied day

sounds from childhood
Mother & Grandmother hanging out the wash, on a clothesline, strung from the house to a tree, using a pulley. the pulley made a squealing sound, so for the rest of my life, whenever I hear a blue jay, I think of them & quiet sunny mornings at home

I've just received a text reminder for a yoga session in Wimbledon Park. I don't do yoga. I hope whoever these messages (I discovered that I received one last month too) are meant for leads a life that's organised enough to not need text reminders.

I now know that my name is Karen because I've just been notified that the yoga was cancelled this evening. However, the real Karen will not know this until she turns up this evening and finds nobody there.
