reminded me of hunting for rubbing alcohol, sanitizing wipes & bathroom tissue. Wifey will be glad I got them tho. wish the lenses were more perfectly flat. but maybe it won't matter. it will only be partial in the Boston area, but it's "a thing". & maybe this time I won't to the cereal box trick

The last full one visible over here, they were using Mylar blankets to provide the protection. Cutting them up and getting those in the kids ward making their own glasses.

It's been a sunny, warm and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard. We seem to have missed all the showers.

Slept well, but woke up feeling bleurgh. Hayfever has kicked in big time resulting in excess snottage. I won't say what that leads to. Once I'd had some peppermint tea and an antihistamine I felt more chipper. Today was largely spent at the parental's beck and call, providing assorted taxi and erranding services.

I have also agreed to view another cat in the next week or so, this one somewhat closer to home. I am still going to go and have a look at that British Shorthair up in Barnsley - I don't want to mess her breeder around.

Jacket potato with cheese & coleslaw for supper, with one of those red oranges for afters.

Now watching England Women vs Sweden Women.

Having saved money yesterday mending the washing machine that's about to go, and more. My PC's hard drive blew last month and the back-up drive wouldn't work. Turns out our surge protector device isn't protecting.

The data off the back-up's recoverable but it'll be £200 as it goes onto a 1TB external hard drive. At least I've not lost everything over the past 20 years, although I'll have a bit from the past few months.

Ah man, that's a bummer.

I always keep hard copies of things that I can't afford to lose through computer mishaps. Although if you're generating huge amounts of stuff, it might not be entirely practical.

Basically it's everything from the last 25 years - all work and personal stuff. I've only lost a few things, including some recent e-mails, but the rest are recoverable. For that, and having a replacement back-up, I'm OK.

Popped out this afternoon to get some rolls for tea and it was nice & warm in the sunshine. However, trying to bike into the headwind....

There was also another rain shower while I was making a mug of hot chocolate a few minutes ago. At least the windows were clean for a few hours.

I've opened my second, and final, Easter Egg. It was squashed. So I've helped squash it a bit more.

Also, finished upgrading a bike which I'll photograph and add to the 'fettled' thread tomorrow. SWMBO would like something to occasionally ride on the smart turbo, but she's the height of an Oompa-Loompa without needing CGI, so I've re-purposed son no. 2's Columbus X-Wing cyclo-cross bike and she just fits. Last time we got her Specialized Globe Daily Step-Thru Dutch-style bike ready and it's not moved in the three years since we tidied it. So, if she doesn't use the Columbus then the planned upgrade just got done anyway, just to mixed 10/11 speed rather than better 10-speed componentry. And if she does like it then I'll get something better organised.

Earlier this evening I went out into the back garden and there were at least 50 snails advancing towards the building. If they're attacking I should be safe for a few hours. Meanwhile, can any snail savants/escargotologists tell me why they're on the move when it's not raining?

When I was driving mum back from Littleport at teatime, there was a bunch of young lads who had dismounted from their bikes and were walking along the verge as the headwind down Black Bank was just too much. And Black Bank is two miles long and arrow straight...

I've got a coupe of routes from either Ely or Manea stations to Peterborough mapped out, but given the lack of shelter from the wind out there, I'm waiting until it's a LOT calmer.
Tomorrow's bike ride may be a walk given the forecast wind - with the Old Farm derby being on TV, a lot of people should be in the pubs watching it so it will be nice & quiet.
