Time to put the writing away (owww, the last few paragraphs of this chapter have been giving me a right headache) and head off to bed via a nice girly pamper session.
Last full day of holiday starts this morning, I don't count tomorrow as it's a travel day .As we booked Mon to Mon we miss the worst of the travel chaos and I can pretty much work out my shutdown at work for the following year and start looking for next year bargains and book early giving me more time to pay .
Anyways the usual Saturday influx meant we now have neighbours who liked to play loud music most of the night so do I return the favour at 6am?
The blackberries that I collected over the last couple of days, plus some sliced apples, are now in the oven covered in oat crumble... 180°c for 35 minutes 👌
Morning.
It is sunny out.
Georgie was a naughty boy yesterday. He didn't come in for breakfast. He didn't even come in at lunchtime and we were very worried. I went up the garden whistling for him, my wife looked in our next door neighbours greenhouse but he wasn't there. He eventually turned up just strolling down the garden slowly after 6 in the evening. He missed out on sharing some fish with me as I had been to the chip shop. He had his food and then went straight back out again. Cat Fest must be on as it is too important for food!
Some good news after we cleared a lot of plants from our pond. I saw 2 Dragonflies in our garden, one was guarding the pond flying around it and perching on plant hanging over it. The other Dragonfly was further down the garden on some gooseberries. My wife said that she saw a large green one on the pond, a female Emperor. We used to have quite a few of those but they disappeared when the pond became overgrown.
I got my clarinet out yesterday and had a bit of a play on it. I am improving slowly. It's only been years since I started trying to play it. I haven't quite got to novice standard yet ! I've never played a musical instrument before apert from a triangle at school. It is something I wanted to play and there is a bit of music which I would like to play. Hazel O Connor's Will You.
As I said it has been a slow process. Not knowing what the tadpoles on telegraph wires mean and then translating them into places where you put your fingers is slow but yesterday I almost played Oh Come All Ye Faithful from memory. At least it is giving my brain something to do.
I think that the saxophone is easier to play, it is heavier and a bit more awkward to hold if you haven't got the neck strap on correctly. It is loud though which is a bit of a problem. My wife and neighbours can hear me up the garden when I'm inside.
Strangely though trying to play the sax has improved my clarinet playing. The tonguing technique they explained on a net training video was much better than the one in my how to play a clarinet book. The sax does require more puff though! Something that I need to improve on.
The cats have been fed and the two females, Daisy and Poppy have gone out. Harry, the big tabby has come in from his nightly patrol and is now asleep on the bed
Good morning from Suffolk which is basking under clear skies and warm sunshine. Coffee has been had and will be followed by a light breakfast of a couple of Weetabix. Sun cream will be applied, drinks will be made and then I'm off to Snetterton.
