A mixed bag weatherwise here chez Casa Reynard, but mild nonetheless.
Slept well enough, but could've done with a bit longer in bed. Cleared all the chores, then made a big pot of curried parsnip & sweet potato soup. Skipped luncheon to go out and bring a couple more wheelbarrows of firewood in, as the sun was shining. Won't be able to do any for the next few days, as the weather is looking particularly soggy. It actually started raining just as I was packing up.
Eventually a

and toast with marmite was had.
Then off to Lidl in Downham Market. It's a new store, and handily, it's just by the A10 on the roundabout for the A1122 to Swaffham. A 20 minute drive from here, which is very convenient - far less faff than going to March or Huntingdon. It's a big store, but still only 2/3 the size of the one in Huntingdon. Downside is they don't carry the same number of lines, but it's much less of a faff to get to.
Picked up all the bits I wanted for Sinterkaas next week, and for various Christmas boxes (postman, bin men etc) and other gifts. The biskits and the lebkuchen is so much nicer than anything Tesco can muster, and it's less sweet than the offerings from Aldi. Prices have definitely gone up around 25% on most festive items compared to last year, and some things, like the poppy seed stollen are now mini sized rather than big ones. I bought what was necessary, but avoided chucking stuff into the trolley "just because" - there will be things I intend on targeting during clearance.
Lovely supper of soup with crusty bread and butter (I did pick up a nice rustic baguette in the bakery), and the last of the apple crumble and custard.
A quiet evening is planned, because I'm bloody cream crackered.
