It's been a bright, mild and decidedly spring-like day here chez Casa Reynard.
Slept really well now that my leg has stopped itching / being painful. Those iodine dressings are not going to be used again. Did all the basic chores, and then took myself off into the garden to do a spot of lumberjilling. I've used a LOT of firewood this last fortnight, and so I need to top up the stores again - not in any danger of running out, but there's still too much of winter left to be complacent.
Had a lovely luncheon of wholemeal toast, pate with mango chutney, a banana, a tangerine and a
Then back out into the garden to haul in what I'd cut and stack it in the garage. It was really nice to be out in the fresh air. I startled a couple of roe deer and a male pheasant. He was a handsome fella, but couldn't help thinking he'd make a tasty casserole!
That done, then it was off erranding. Went to Littleport to pick up mum's prescription, and thence to Aldi to pick up a few bits. Went the back way on the old A10 via Chettisham, as there's roadworks on the bypass and I've better things to do in life than sit in a traffic jam.
Bread, milk, butter, plain yoghurt and herbal teas were procured. Picked up four packets of their posh seeded sourdough at 75% off. There were doughnuts and cream cakes on sticker, but I've still too much sweet stuff left over from the hols, so didn't bite.
Almost came home with a stickered (half price) gammon joint, but then common sense got the better of me and I put it back on the shelf. The joint was unsmoked, and my preference is for smoked. Had it been a smoked gammon or had it been 75% off, then I'd likely have taken it. But I have a gammon in the freezer, so yeah...
Fed the cat (Felix AGAIL with chicken & kidney), and then I fed me. Had a lovely supper of thai-spiced pumpkin & red lentil soup, then avocado on toast, with curried beans, grilled baby plum tomatoes, some salady stuff that needed using, and a fried egg plonked proudly on top of everything. I *may* have been a bit too enthusiastic with the chilli sauce, as my nose is still dribbling!
Now sat by the fire watching the snooker.
