Nice sunny afternoon walk into town has been had , now then make a start on a bit of light tidy up in the garden.

Flower seeds scattered as instructed in a foot wide container that has been draining for two days. I was sorting out decorative stones from old planting trough compost that overtine they had got mixed into last year.
There were still two bowls full to sort when the weather turned cold and subsequently they have got water logged.
The seed packet does say keep moist!

A late afternoon walk done , time for a and see what the evening brings.

It's been a lovely warm and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard after a chilly start.

Slept well enough, but three hours less than I really need. So made a and took it back upstairs, and spent a couple of hours writing. Then rose, swapped jim jams for clothes and scudded through the chores. Blue recycling bin had been emptied, and so was returned to its place.

Then my friend Linda came and picked me up. We went for a lovely hour and a half's dog walk along the river, and then she treated me to tea and cake. We demolished a pot of tea each. Linda had a slice of lemon & lavender drizzle cake, I had some orange & rosemary polenta cake. Really enjoyed my afternoon.

A quiet evening is planned. I don't need to cook, as there is stuff in the fridge that just needs reheating.

Evening cuppa went down well enough

On Thursdays there is a programme/podcast that I regularly watch called "Green Signals". This is a weekly broadcast about anything train related, including heritage railways, new networks etc.

At the end of the programme there is a quiz. This week's was, "Which mainline railway station in Britain has a level crossing at both ends of the platform?"

I first thought about Crianlarich, in Scotland. Someone looked up on goggle that it could be in Suffolk.

The prize is a "Green Signals" mug if you have the correct answer and your name is the first pulled out of the hat.

I watched "Green Signals" earlier this evening. The answers are
Llanelli, Grimsby Town, Harwich International, and Rye.

Elsenham was not allowed has it has two "staggered" platforms.

Other suggested answers, but not allowed because the level crossings were too far away from the platform: Lincoln, Sleaford,
Bedlington and Farncombe.

Decades ago, I travelled from Harwich to Hamburg, but I did not notice the two level crossings.

Today's question is; What is the longest scheduled train journey with no advertised on board refreshments?

I went on the group ride with 8 others this morning. It was lovely and sunny and was an enjoyable ride. It was the first time that I had ridden in full lycra get up. It was the Fausto Coppi Technogym racing colours which goes with my dark metallic blue Coppi K28.

I took my Pinarello frame back over to Spindles the LBS in Corsham to see if they could remove my BB. I held one spanner whilst the chap heaved on the tool on the other side cup. Who needs to go to a gym when you can exercise your muscles doing something constructive. We managed to get one cup almost out but it was the wrong one. The free cup should have been on the non drive side but our free one was on the drive side. We gave up when we didn't seem to be getting any further. The free cup was behaving like the thread had stripped.
I came home with the frame and sprayed some freeing spray in and left it for a couple of hours. Just before tea I thought I would just go and have another play. With a bit more oil and working back and forth it came out! We had frightened it into submission!
