Thanks for the responses; a number were more poignant than expected. I’m one of those whose life hasn’t even made a ripple on the pond of life and I don’t suddenly what to seem, in death, more than I have been in life.

In that case, Ewan MacColl's Lament for the Death of a Nobody ;)

My hubby says he wants Knockin on Heavens Door - the Guns and Roses version ..... though I can imagine people choosing for him, would probably pick Sailing by Rod Stewart, cos he is big fan and looks quite a bit like him

Me ...... Helena by My Chemical Romance probably.

My best friend & I got drunk one night, actulay this was a regular occurance when we got together, but hey ho
One night we got a bit 'deep' talked about our deaths, what we wnated to happen, funerals etc.
We both agreed that we wanted folks to wear bright colours, none of that dull black stuff, he wanted cremating, as he'd spent most of his life surrounded by a haze of smoke
Then we got into the banter about songs - My Way by the Sex Pistols was one of his choices, mine was Seasons in the Sun, which he claimed not to know, so I sang it - I can not sing, tone deaf, scalded cat comes to mind...He said I should sing it at his funeral if he went first, he had a sick sense of humour.

A year later I carried out all his wishes

I've always fancied a woodland burial (cremation is sooooo ungreen ) so Dido's lament from Purcell's Dido & Aeneas (preferably sung by by Emma Kirkby) seems appropriate ....when I am laid in earth....remember me....

And I like the idea of fertilising a good tree for the future

Pace Globalti: it's not my ice-axe I want to be buried with, it's my Asolos - reminder of the routes in a 5 year period when I seemed to be able to climb anything solo

I'm going in a cardboard box & having tree planted on top... Just not sure what type of tree yet!
