Brilliant, wow, the Taxi driver himself at the end of the row.:okay:

I think that La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Steve Reich etc, the so called minimalist music, was in many ways a return to Tonality after Schoenberg's path descended into musical radicalism.

I remember liking the film Koyaanisqatsi using Philip Glass music, it was quite popular at the time.

We have the dvd and the soundtrack - good call!

I like Reich too (the most "minimalist" of the big three) - "it's gonna rain rain", though I love "Proverb" and the marimba stuff, John Adams, (maybe the least "minimalist". Saw an excellent Kilinghoffer, again ENO, and keep on looking out for "Nixon in China" with no luck yet.

Not familiar with the music of the other too but your post prompts me finding out

I suppose Pink Floyd fall into that bucket. I was a big fan as a teenager, then they brought out The Wall, which I rushed out and bought, listened to avidly, saw the movie, even saw it live before I realised that I didn't actually like it at all. But some of the pre-Wall stuff I can happily listen to still.

Yet I'm the other way round. I love the Wall and also The Final Cut. The rest of their catalogue does nothing for me.

Consider yourself lucky... their new album after i got into them was Momentary Lapse of Reason, saw them on the '88 tour too... it was amazing at the time but only a few short years later, I realised that it was utter sh!te

Freddie and the Dreamers, I've seen some of their 1960's performances recently, dear me!

As a 5 or maybe 6 year old I was forced by mum and dad to watch them on our annual Blackpool holiday. They appeared at Blackpool Opera House, if I remember rightly. Them and another we had to watch, Ken Dodd and his Diddymen were two extremely cringe worthy acts!!

Bear in mind the Diddymen were ' look at me everybody'! child actors, not puppets.

Prick!!🧐

I like the last Pink Floyd LP 'The Final Cut' but since Roger left find them unlistenable and yet Roger's own solo work still has that magic. Could it be that one man so shaped the sound of a band ?

To be honest I don't think I've ever even heard any of the post-Wall albums. I wandered off in another direction.

I still listen to quite a lot of stuff from the past as can be seen from my saved Spotify playlist, but the most popular artist on my saved stuff on my NAS drive is Van Morrison, I have all his albums and quite a few bootlegs.

Most of mine is probably from when I first got into the extreme/black metal scene 20 ish years ago. Some of the bands were quite subtle about their national socialist leanings, others not so much, but I just listened to it all. I'm more discerning these days thankfully!
