My car conked out today!

It was as if someone had suddenly pressed my break pedal down to the floor! There I was doing about 30mph, then a sudden slowing down, followed by very little power/acceleration. Silly me should've headed for home, but instead drove to my intended destination thinking it'd be a slight blockage in the fuel pipe that'd free itself after a while. I could only do 18mph maximum and that was in second gear. Every now and then there would be a sudden upsurge in power, then it'd lose power. I managed to make it home, not stopping to turn the ignition off then back on, thinking that might've helped. Thankfully I didn't as when I parked up in my usual spot I turned the ignition off then on trying to fire my car up again there was nothing at all! I phoned the dealer where I bought the car, with him saying he'd get a mechanic to phone me back, but he didn't do. What could be the problem?! The car is under warranty till the 23rd of September, by the way.

It's gone into limp mode for reason undiagnosed.

Is this the first time it's done it @Accy cyclist ?

I would expect once it's been plugged into a diagnostic system all faults codes should show and can then be worked on.

Yes, and I keep It at about half a tank level since it did the same thing the other month.

It did it about two months ago, but cleared up after about 10 minutes of slow, normal, slow, normal. It hasn't done it since until today. I'm just glad I got it back home as if I'd turned the ignition off it wouldn't have started again, meaning paying about 200 quid for a recovery vehicle to tow it home for me!
