I also have a diverge with 105 and it works well for me. Very smooth on road, and handles smoother off road trails well. The disc brakes work very well.

I bought a Diverge about 18 months ago. Mine has Sora. I have shop fitted mudguards as it my everyday commuter bike. I love it!
My only issue is getting used to some toe overlap.

Well worth seeing if you can find a 2015 Croix De Fer. I got a 2015 Croix De Fer 20 for not much over £700 at the start of December.

Currently waiting for my CdF20 (carbon fork upgrade delay ), lovely bikes and the Orange of the 10 is amazing, I'd choose it over the spesh for that alone
Alloy frame with carbon fork and claris vs steel frame/fork and sora.... Not tried the Diverge, would lean towards the CdF anyway but worth trying both.

A good choice (I have one), but the only thing I would mention about is there is only one mount on the dropouts for racks/guards so if you were running both, they would have to share that one mount. For a straight commuter though, a CdF is arguably a little more flexible with it's front rack mounts.
