Hi Guys,

I have been following this forum for a while ever since I decided to cycle to work. Obviously there are some real pioneers here and the posts have been of great help.
I have done some basic research on the internet to come up with the following shortlist for a fairly entry level hybrid in the price range up to £300. My daily round trip commute to work will be around 9 miles on flatter terrains of London.

1) Raleigh Pioneer Metro LX 2009 Hybrid Bike £233.99

2) Ridgeback Speed 2009 Hybrid Bike £273

3)Trek T10 2009 Hybrid Bike £249

4)Claud Butler Boulevard 2009 Hybrid Bike £249

5)Dawes Discovery 201 Equiped 2009 Hybrid Bike £199

Please suggest your advice on these/alternate models. Whici do you think will give the best value for money for my modest requirements.

Defo not the Raleigh, Doors or CB. Ridgeback are good, Trek are gooder. IMHO

The Ridgeback's are definitely good but when I went to look at the Speed I ended up buying Ridgeback Velocity . I've had it for 2 years come March (5,200mls) and other than having to change the usual stuff brake blocks/ chain cassette I've had to do nothing to it.

Another bike I was considering at the time I was looking at the speed was a Carrera Subway from Hellfrauds. Other than their occasional dodgy assembly, folk say its a great bike for the money.

You might want to look at Marin, they make a very good range of hybrid and city bikes. Might be nearer £400 than £300 but worth looking into. In the current climate you might well get a good deal somewhere
