My US visa has arrived.....

I think it's a Canadian term, I think that is a Canadian television show. About 4 things are shown in their process of manufacture over a half-hour. On the American side, these shows are often shown on Discover Channel about Supper time, 2 shows back to back. Or at least that's how it was when I was still watching Tv.

Mmm, thought the accent wasn't quite right. I briefly worked for a Canadian/Swedish company, sadly half of it turned out to be dishonest.

May I inquire how you have qualified for a visa..... is it a work thing, did you meet the love of your life on eharomy? I've heard its incredibly difficult to get a visa over there so any insight would be appreciated. Which part of the US are you headed to?

There' different grades of visa. Mine is a tourist non-immigrant visa. It does not qualify me for residency, only for stays of up to six months with a discretionary six month extension. What it does do is remove the need for me to apply through the visa waiver scheme for any future trips to the US for the next ten years. I had to apply for an extended visa as I will be in the US for more than the 90 days that the visa waiver scheme covers. It entails shelling out around £100 and a face to face interview at the US embassy.

I have no intentions of becoming a US resident. I'm going on a long bike ride from near Seattle to Bar Habour in Maine.

Funnily enough I came across a reference to Moose Milk recently I've just checked them both out.

I'm aware of the six month single stay limit. I can't imagine wanting to stay that long. It does however removes the need to use the visa waver process if i ever want to revisit the place in the next ten years.

My major worry is them refusing to let me leave.

Whilst we were touring the US friends doing similar had been told by the Border Authorities that after staying in the States for six months you had to return home for 6 months before been able to return and that 'home' didn't include going into Canada or Mexico. Don't know if this was just the opinion of one BA staff member or their actual rules??? Who are they to say where you can or can't go when not in the US?

As I don't have the means or inclination to spend more than four months in any year in the US in the next ten years, I am far from worried about the six months limit.
