Indeed it would.
Running 48 x 17 on 1"1/4 tyres so around the 78 mark .
Which is just right for local terrain.

The miles are adding up on this one now the wet and mucky season is upon us

Finally got around to removing the fixed cog and ordering a new 19 tooth freewheel so once it arrives it will be testing time for a few miles before winter commences

This is now ready for some single speed miles after being fixed gear for last few years it is now fitted with a freewheel

First proper ride of winter 2023 on the now single speed as no longer running on fixed gear and a lovely 30 miles completed.

Just about 40 miles on this one yesterday and today I do like a single speed so easy to ride and ideal for winter roads .

Very nice, the proper winter fixed bike created from off cuts re your question about descending, see if you can "relax" your legs as much as possible and let it go. You have two brakes which I have always found to be a very good idea so slowing down gradually to find a good twiddling compromise is easy to do.
