For nearly 3 years I have been using a Moon Gem 2.0 and swear by it.

Main pros are durability, battery life and rain resistance. Main con is the button being awkward to press with gloves.

As for the brightness I can not comment as I have always used it in suburban conditions so that others see me.

For the unlit country lane sections i use a cree solarstrom x2 front light along with a back up standard see me front light

On the back for commuting i have panniers so i use a total of 3 smart half watt lights , one on the seat post and one on the back of each pannier.
