New Helmet needed apparently - are "smart" ones any good

Never had a problem getting white or yellow helmets.

Oh yes - I can do

but just been to Halfords to have a look and most were black or green - dark green- one even matt green

just seems weird to me

and while I am at it

opinions of "indicators" on the back of teh helmet

seems daft to me - they are so close together

but - I dunno - opinions???

First, they quickly become a substitute for looking, which on a bicycle is the fast track to a morgue.

And on a lid theyre only any use if the rider is staring dead ahead, which is the last thing a diligent rider should be doing.

That was my thought

also - if it is flashing on the side of you helmet - but you are looking to one side to problems -
then the flashing will move around and could look like it is on the other side

even indicators on the back are normally so close together that they look pointless
other than indicating that you are likely to do something

might work on an extension out to the sides - but that is also a good way to get it caught on something at the back
and at the front I already have enough carp on my bars!!

The basic issue with indicators is they have to be far enough apart to be obvious to least intelligent driver of a vehicle behind, which is pretty impossible on a bicycle. If motor bike style handlebar end linducators were fitted to straight bars the bike is unlikely to fit through a lot of barriers meant to preclude motor bikes.

No evidence has ever been published to support that nor did the publicly disclosed forensic report summary suggest that.

Most road users would recognise something that's supposed to function as an indicator, but shirley, there's no BSI or equivalent standard as far as I know for bicycle indicators so should you be involved in an accident relating to their use, it could get a bit sticky sorting out the legalities. Has anyone got any information on this?
