Ouch @Biker Joe, recover soon!
The saddle will still be comfy, a small blemish adds character.
I got a big dent on the top tube of my bike, dropped it one week after purchase!

Hi everyone. Thank you all very much for your kind and supportive responses. I appreciate it a lot.

I had a most uncomfortable night. But then that's to be expected.

This morning I inspected my knee. The gash turned out to be quite shallow and has scabbed over very well and not weeping. The knee is still swollen and painful but I reckon a couple more days will see considerable improvement. The muscle in my back and left shoulder is painful. I massaged it with a frozen can of beans and started a course of Ibuprofen. Regular treatment on that should soon sort me out. Already feeling a little improvement.

Now the saddle. I smoothed over the scuffed area with a hot iron moving round the back and down the other side to keep it even. Rubbed in some black shoe dye and finished off with a coat of matt clear varnish. Worked a treat. Looks good and only noticeable if you put it up against a new saddle.

So overall I'm happy and looking forward to getting back on the bike by next Wednesday or Thursday.

So glad I came back on this forum. You are top people.

Do yourself a favour and grab a hydrocolloid dressing for your wound. I lost a large amount of skin over one knee and with one of these [supplied by the A&E dept that I visited a week after as it went pretty nasty] I have no visible trace of the event.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep it in mind for the next time. Healing up pretty fast now. No sign of infections. I'm feeling good and will be back on the bike this Wednesday.
